Say "cheese"

Vanessa Semrow of Wisconsin was crowned Miss Teen USA on Aug. 28, 2002, on South Padre Island, Texas. The first runner-up was Jennifer Morgan of California, and the second runner-up was Tara Elizabeth Conner of Kentucky. The third runner-up was Michelle Attai of Maryland, and the fourth runner-up was Kimberly Harlan of Georgia.

Other semifinalists were Ashley Nicole Bickford of Connecticut, Marley Delduchetto of New York, Rachel Renee Smith of Tennessee, Alla Ilushka of Minnesota and Alysha Castonguay of Rhode Island.

Ms. Smith was also chosen Miss Photogenic. Austen Brown of South Carolina was chosen Miss Congeniality.

Ms. Semrow is a second-generation pageant participant and published poet. She is the first contestant from Wisconsin to win the crown.

It was the 20th Miss Teen USA Pageant and the last to be shown on CBS. Beginning in 2003, the pageant and other events staged by Miss Universe Inc. will air on NBC.
