| Missouri milestone Marissa Whitley won the Miss Teen USA title on Aug. 22, 2001, becoming the first delegate from Missouri ever to claim the crown. The first runner-up was Gloria Almonte of New York, and the second runner-up was Marianna Zaslavsky of Massachusetts. The third runner-up was Katherine Perello of Texas, and the fourth runner-up was Jillian Dornbush of Indiana. | |
| Other semifinalists at the pageant, held on South Padre Island, Texas, were Casey McClain of California, Jacqueline Avielle Drakeford of the District of Columbia, Brandy Drake of Georgia, Paige MacKenzie Egan of Louisiana, and Shannon Hulbert of Washington. |

| Ms. Dornbush won the Caboodles Cosmetics Photogenic Award. Ms. Drake won the Clairol Herbal Essence Style Award. Sarah Warner of Oregon was chosen Miss Congeniality by a vote of her fellow delegates. |
