Beachhead at BrigadoonPhotos by Joe Whiteko / PNB |

| There are no lifeguards on Resaca Beach. You won't find any seashells. There's not a speck of sand to get into your shoes. The water is mostly in the form of ice cubes, tinkling in tall glasses. But Resaca Beach is hot. And once the sun goes down, things get even hotter. On this beach, all the women are beautiful. All the locals ride shiny, powerful motorcycles. The music is always live. And there's no volleyball. The only sport allowed on Resaca Beach is world-class pageant competition. |

| So why don't you go there every weekend? Well, there's a catch. Just like Brigadoon, the Scottish village in the famous Broadway musical, Resaca Beach is an enchanted place. It only exists once a year. On that magical day, stunning women in bikinis vie to be the winner of the Miss Resaca Beach Poster Girl Contest and Motorcycle Show. In 2002, the winner was Alicia Hall, an internationally renowned model who had previously been first runner-up in some of the greatest pageants in North America (including Resaca Beach). |
| Fortunately, while the beach is enchanted, the girls are real. We saw them. And here they are. (You may never see a photograph from the enchanted village of Brigadoon, but those people wear kilts anyway.) |
