New York gets a jolt of energyPhotos by Joe Whiteko / PNB | ![]()
|
| In 1664, the British crown seized New Amsterdam from the Netherlands and renamed it New York. From then on, nothing really happened for 343 years. New York remained a sleepy little place, far from the bright lights. But now, in 2007, something major is in the works. The Miss New York Pageant of the Miss America system has new directors -- Dr. Paul Brown and Linda Carbo. The state couldn't remain sleepy forever. It has come to life in a big way. |

| These people are energized, and they're innovators. They are going to put New York on the pageant map, and they may just revitalize the whole Miss America system. Wouldn't that be cool? Do you think we're exaggerating about what they can do? Well, we're willing to put our reputations on the line. We predict that after Dr. Brown and Ms. Carbo have been pageant directors for just one year, New York will be famous. How famous? It will be one of the most populous states in the nation. Its largest city will be internationally known. It will be a magnet for people from around the world. It will have skyscrapers, a huge park, museums. We could go on and on. You read it here. |
