Isabella Deininger won the Miss Baden-Württemberg 2006 Pageant on Dec. 28, 2005, Stuttgart, Germany. She will represent the state of Baden-Württemberg in Miss Deutschland (Germany Universe) 2006 in January. The first runner-up was Fok Bachofer, who is half-Thai and was also first runner-up in the Miss Süddeutschland Pageant two days before. The second runner-up was Patrizia Neusinger.

Claudia Adler, 21, of Bad Frankenhausen was crowned Miss Thüringen 2006 on Dec. 23, 2005. She will represent the state of Thüringen at the Miss Deutschland (Germany Universe) 2006 Pageant on Jan. 19, 2006.

Virginie Claes, 23, of Hasselt was crowned Miss Belgium 2006 on Dec. 17, 2005. She will represent the country at Miss World 2006, and either she or first runner-up Kaat Vermeeren, 22, will compete at Miss Universe. The second runner-up was Emilie Dupuis, 20.

Fatima Funk, 21, of Worms was crowned Miss Rheinland-Pfalz in Koblenz, Germany, on Dec. 17, 2005. She will represent the state at Miss Deutschland (Germany Universe) 2006 on Jan. 19, 2006

Cristiane Biazoli of Brazil has won the Miss Bikini World 2005 title in Antalya, Turkey. She is 20.

Iancu Ecaterina won the Model of the Universe 2005 title in Turkey on Dec. 16, 2005. She is 19 years old.

Miss Iceland, Unnur Birna Vilhjalmsdottir, 21, was crowned Miss World 2005 on Dec. 12, 2005, in Sanya, China. Her long Icelandic name caused considerable stir in much of the world's press. The daughter of a former Miss Iceland, the new queen is a student and described as a part-time police officer. The first runner-up was Miss Puerto Rico, Ingrid Marie Rivera Santos, while and the second runner-up was Miss Mexico, Dafne Molina Lona.

Nokuthula Sithole, 21, of Midrand, Gauteng, has been crowned Miss South Africa 2005. She will compete at Miss Universe and Miss World in 2006. The first runner-up was Avumile Qongo, and the second runner-up was Matapa Maila.

Kathrin Schwarz, 20, has been crowned Miss Niedersachsen (Miss Lower Saxony) 2006. She will compete on Jan. 19, 2006, for the Miss Deutschland crown. Ms. Schwarz was second runner-up some weeks previously in the Miss Sachsen-Anhalt state pageant. She has dual residency in the two states.) The first runner-up to Miss Niedersachsen was Christin Lehrje (she participated some weeks ago in Ecuador as the German delegate in the banana queen pageant. The second runner-up was Cindy Hiekmann.

Gabrielle Bou Rached, 19, has been crowned Miss Lebanon. She will compete at Miss Universe 2006 and Miss World 2006. The first runner-up was Anabella Hilal, and the second runner-up was Nadine Yazbeck. The third runner-up was Reem Moukarzel, and the fourth runner-up was Abir Layous.

Brittany Tkach, 18, was crowned Miss Brampton 2006 on Oct. 15, 2005, in Brampton, Ontario. She also won Miss Congeniality, Best in Evening Gown and Best in Casual Wear. Her sister Veronika Tkach was Miss Brampton 2003. Jessica Tsonis was crowned Petite Miss Brampton 2006, and Alyssa La Roy was crowned Little Miss Brampton 2006. Mariet Shanouda was crowned Miss Teen Brampton 2006, and Katherine Newman was crowned Mrs. Brampton 2006.

The Miss America Organization has confirmed rumors that the pageant will be held on Jan. 21, 2006. It has not, however, confirmed speculation that the venue will be Las Vegas. There are factors in the ongoing discussions that would seem to make this unlikely.

Sulia Jiang, 20, who is from Scottsdale and is of Chinese descent, has been crowned Miss Asia Arizona 2006. The first runner-up was Aimee Truong, 19, who is of Vietnamese descent and is from Peoria. The second runner-up was Seana Gretchen Hall, 17, who is of Philippine descent and is from Glendale. The third runner-up was Nicole Soper, 18, who is of Korean descent and is from Tucson. The fourth runner-up was Laura McParlane, 17, who is of Philippine descent and is from Glendale.

Isabelle Antoo, 24, was crowned Miss Mauritius on Oct. 15, 2005. She will represent the country at Miss World 2005 and Miss Universe 2006. She was crowned by her sister, Magali Antoo, who was Miss Mauritius last year. The first runner-up was Veronique Tadebois, and the second runner-up was Kelly Desiree.

Yvonne Taudor was the winner of the online contest Miss Rhein-Main-Net 2005, an online contest that attracted more than 5,000 voters. The first runner-up was Michelle Haubrich, and the second runner-up was Jana Hecker. All three women will compete in the Miss Hessen (Universe) competition on Nov. 18, 2005. It is a preliminary to Miss Germany (Universe). Two other women who took part in the online voting, Sarah Forkert and Agnes Morganski, will also go on to the Miss Hessen Pageant as they won a preliminary pageant some weeks ago.

Jade Collins, competing as New Zealand Miss University 2005, was crowned World Miss University 2005 in Seoul, South Korea, on Oct. 14, 2005.

Odian Moss, 18, has been chosen Miss Bahamas World. She is a modeling and dance instructor and will represent her country at Miss World.

Natalie Ackermann, 25, a medical student from Düsseldorf, was crowned Miss Nordrhein-Westfalen on Oct. 9, 2005. She is the first delegate for Miss Deutschland (Germany Universe) 2006. She was Miss Atlantico in Miss Colombia 2000 and competed in last year's Miss Deutschland Pageant as Miss RTL.

Janelle Denise Woods has been stripped of her title as Miss Black Universe 2006. The pageant made the announcement, accusing her of non-cooperation. Kimberlee D. Borland of Tallahassee, Fla., who was first runner-up to Ms. Woods, has assumed the title.

Kitty Wang was crowned Miss Asia 2005 on Oct. 4, 2005, in Hong Kong. She was the Preliminaries Winner for China Selection. The competition consisted of 5 SAR (Macau and Hong Kong) contestants, 6 China contestants and 7 from the rest of Asia (Lebanon, Korea, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Japan and Vietnam). Ms. Wang also won the side awards of Miss Perfect Figure and Best Potential Actress. The first runner-up was Hong In Yong of Korea, who also won Miss Photogenic and Miss Elegant Asian Lady and was the favorite of online voters. The second runner-up was Anna Zhai of China, who was named SMS Dream Lover. Others in the top 9 were Gabrielle Bou Rached of Lebanon (who also won Miss Intellect), Tiffany Yang of China (who was chosen Media Favorite), Amanda Yuen of the SAR, Alexandra Ostasheva of Uzbekistan, Kammy Kang of China and Amy Zhang of China. Sachie Tomita of Japan was Miss Friendship.

Dina Dzankovic was crowned Miss Serbia and Montenegro on Oct. 4, 2005. She will represent the nation at Miss World. The first runner-up was Nada Milinic, who will compete at Miss Universe. The second runner-up was Nikolina Djogo, who will compete at Miss Europe. Rounding out the top 5 were Nevena Paripovic and Mila Knezevic, who will compete at Miss International and Miss Earth, respectively. Miss Internet was Teodora Marcic. The pageant celebrated Serbian composer Stevan Mokranjac, and there was much traditional music and many traditional costumes to delight the crowd.

Lisette Diaz won the US Miss World 2005 Pageant on Oct. 1, 2005, in San Francisco. She will represent the United States in the Miss World Pageant in China late in the year. (She was the third runner-up at 2004 US Miss World, and was the first runner-up at Miss California USA 2006. The first runner-up was Kristen Berset (who was Miss Florida USA 2004 and was the first runner-up at 2004 US Miss World). The second runner-up was Ellen Chapman (who was Miss California USA 2004). The third runner-up was Michelle Slaybaugh, and the fourth runner-up was was Austen Brown (Miss South Carolina Teen USA 2002).

Miss New York Latina, Melissa Quesada, was crowned Miss Latina U.S. 2005 on Oct. 1, 2005, in Cancun, Mexico. The first runner-up was the delegate from Rhode Island, Karina De la Rosa, who also received the special award for "Best Runway Model". Other finalists were Miss Utah Latina, Jessica Garcia; Miss Panama U.S. Latina, Keren Kinglow; Miss Mexico U.S. Latina, Angeles Gonzalez; Miss Arizona Latina, Argentina Ruiz; Miss Maryland Latina, Laritza Garcia. Ms. Kinglow was chosen Most Talented and Outstanding Achievement winner. In the Miss Teen U.S. Latina Pageant, held concurrently with the Miss Latina U.S. Pageant, Geysha Gonzalez of Illinois won the title, receiving her crown from predecessor Michelle Gonzalez of her own home state. Miss Teen Utah Latina, Annelyn Nelson, was the first runner-up and also took home the special award for "Best Runway Model" in her division. Miss Teen Alabama Latina, Nina McKinney, received the "Outstanding Achievement" award.

Shawn Cunningham has been crowned Miss Continental United States Woman of Color 2006. She will compete for the national Miss Women of Color 2006 title.
