Start spreading the newsKimberly Ann Pressler of New York won the Miss USA crown on Feb. 5, 1999, in Branson, Mo. The first runner-up was Morgan Tandy High of Tennessee, and the second runner-up was Angelique Breaux of California. Others in the top 5 were Lauren Poppell of South Carolina and Michelle Rios of New Mexico. Others who made the top 10 were Shannon Grace Clark of Michigan, Dia Webb of Oklahoma, Kellie Lightbourne of Virginia, Pratima Yarlagadda of Indiana and Melinda Miller of Ohio. Ms. Pressler is 21, which she describes as her "lucky number," and she is the daughter of a career military man. She is one-fourth Japanese and has a special interest in Japanese economics. She was Miss New York Teen USA 1994. Miss Congeniality, chosen by her fellow contestants, was Cara Jackson of Arizona, who also formerly represented her state in the Miss America Pageant. Ms. Pressler will represent the United States in the Miss Universe Pageant in May. |
