Aloha, America!

Angela Perez Baraquio, Miss Hawaii, was crowned Miss America 2001 on Oct. 14, 2000, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. 

Ms. Baraquio, who was a preliminary swimsuit winner, is the first woman of Asian descent to win the title, and the second Miss Hawaii to win.

Faith Jenkins of Louisiana, a double preliminary winner, was first runner-up. Rita Ng of California was second runner-up, and Christi May of Mississippi was third runner-up. The fourth runner-up was Whitney Boyles of Kentucky.
