Solid ladies | ![]() |
| Some folks come to Hawaii to feel the soft tropical breezes. Some come to see the hard bodies. And some come to put their hard bodies on the line. In the Miss Aloha Muscle Bikini Contest, there are women from thousands of miles away, and there are women from right down the road. Island darlings and mainland maidens. All very fit, and all very feminine. These are not lady lumberjacks. It's a beauty competition. The women would fit right in on any pageant stage. They arrive in custom swimsuits, professionally styled hair and makeup. And they've been preparing with diet and exercise for months. |

| The winner for 2002 was Natasha Burnham, a waitress from Kona, Hawaii. She's a former Miss Bayfest Hawaii and a former Hawaiian Tropic finalist. She won $5,000 for finishing first. The first runner-up and winner of the "Best Abs" award was Allison China, a flight attendant from Sacramento, Calif. (We're betting she flew to Hawaii.) She won $3,000 for her finish, and $1,000 for her abdominal excellence. That's $4,000 to go toward her upcoming wedding. The second runner-up was Megan Hope Clark, a happily married personal trainer from Hawaii. The former finalist in the Hawaiian Hurricane Ms. Fitness contest won $2,000 for her finish. The third runner-up was Laina Beard, a young Hawaii Kai student and newcomer to beauty contests. She won $1,000 for her finish, and an additional $3,500 for "Best Butt." (No, we don't mean the girls were out there butting heads.) She will be flown in October 2002 to the Mr. Olympia competition to appear in the Planet Muscle booth as the "Miss Aloha Muscle Best Butt Winner." Get there early, because lines are expected to be long. |
| The fourth runner-up and "Best Legs" winner was Tess Yong of Honolulu. She's a universal contestant with bodybuilding, fitness, figure and modeling titles under her belt. She also a former Miss Designer Body winner. If you're doing the math, that's $500 for the finish and $1,000 for the legs (or $500 for each leg if you choose to itemize). Karissa Klotzbuecher (not shown) of Scandinavia, Wis., was honored for best chest, winning $1,000. |
| Guys, wouldn't you love to have a girlfriend like one of the Miss Aloha contestants? A woman who's beautiful, sexy, full of energy? | ![]() |
And if a bully tries to take her away from you, she'll beat him up! (But remember, gentlemen, stick to places where the bullies are uglier than you.)
