You know about the actress Markie Post, famous for "Night Court" and visits to the Lincoln Bedroom. But do you know Markie Cohen? She's Mrs. Georgia America.

Our reporter wanted to meet Markie Cohen in person, partly to see whether she looked like Markie Post. It may sound silly, but reporters can be that way. Mrs. Cohen didn't look anything like the actress, he told us, but she didn't disappoint.

"She's one of those New South beauty queens -- glamorous, very bright, but friendly and accessible. She's worked as an advocate for children, not in some nebulous, do-gooder kind of way, but as a professional, in the 'system.' I think she's saved kids' lives. She wouldn't put it that way, but I suspect it's true.

"We met just before a party for another beauty queen. Mrs. Cohen gave us her undivided attention, but she was there to lend her support to the other queen, and when the party started, she quietly blended in.

"So she doesn't steal the limelight. But she deserves it. And she'll be getting it at the Mrs. America Pageant."
