She changed her mindPhotos courtesy of Katie Beasley | |
| Katie Beasley made a silly vow when she was a young schoolgirl. "I swore up and down that I would never do pageants." We're glad such oaths aren't legally binding. When Ms. Beasley reached her early teens, a friend talked her into changing her mind and giving competition a try. It was just a small hairdresser's pageant, and she finished as first runner-up, but she was hooked. "I had a very different view from then on." |

| From that modest beginning, she went on to higher-profile events, She reigned as queen of the world-famous Tennessee Walking Horse celebrations. And the folks in the Volunteer State say she just kept getting better and better. |
| In the summer of 2001, Ms. Beasley was crowned Miss Teen All American. According to pageant legend (as documented by PNB), there's a bit of magic in this title. Those who win it seem to go on to even greater renown. When a girl is Miss Teen All American, she looks like a future movie star, and perhaps that's what she is. "Never say never," the saying goes, and that could be Ms. Beasley's motto. The thing she swore she would never do is the thing that made her famous. Now, as she looks to her future, she doesn't rule anything out.

| Maybe there will be other pageant titles, maybe a career in business. But she's also a pretty fair painter, and she can sing and dance. "And I really want to do more modeling." Well, whatever. She has the magic, and that's what counts. |
