Another time, another place

Kandice Pelletier
Let's start with some political history. President George W. Bush is from Texas. He's also the first U.S. president born in Connecticut. Sen. John Kerry is from Massachusetts. He wants to be the first U.S. president born in . . . Colorado.

The point is: People get around.

Kandice Pelletier certainly gets around. When PNB last told you about her, in the autumn of 2003, she had just been crowned National Sweetheart in the Illinois farm community of Hoopeston. She won the title while representing Georgia.

Kandice PelletierIn March 2004, far from the cornfields of Illinois, far from the peach orchards of Georgia, she was crowned Miss Manhattan. That's the big Manhattan, as in Big Apple. New York, New York. (The pageant had a Hawaiian theme. We don't know what that was all about, but it does bring another state into the mix.)

Ms. Pelletier wants to be Miss New York. And then, she wants to compete in one more state. New Jersey, to be exact.

Yes, that Kandice Pelletier certainly gets around. And it's a pleasure to watch her in motion.

Let's close with some political history. Tennessee has had three U.S. presidents, and not one of them was born in Tennessee.
