A merry young Miss | ![]() |
| Who was the man who fell in love with a girl because of her laugh? Was it Hans Christian Andersen? F. Scott Fitzgerald? Frank Sinatra? |
![]() | Whoever that guy was, Jordan Bellar is the kind of girl he would have fallen in love with. She has an enchanting laugh, one that slowly bubbles up in conversation even when she's trying her best to sound solemn. And why is this girl laughing? We can think of one reason. She has just broken seriously into the pageant world, by winning the title of Miss Polk County Teen USA. Now she's going to be competing at Miss Florida Teen USA. "It's a glitz pageant," she says with glee. And so it is. |

| She has been in other pageants, and she giggles a bit when asked to define them. When a girl is 16 (going on 17), it feels funny to look back. |
![]() | It's not that Ms. Bellar doesn't have a serious side. She wants to attend the University of South Florida and eventually become a forensic scientist, discovering the ways people die. That's as serious as it gets, and a girl would need a sense of humor to stand it. |
| In the meantime, she likes modeling. Her guiding star in that field is the stunning Cindy Crawford. "She's been through a lot," says the teen queen, sounding sympathetic.
