Stay that way, Jennifer | ![]() |
| Makeovers are the rage. "Change your style, change your life" is the theme that resonates on TV talk shows, in supermarket tabloids and in countless best sellers. Everyone believes that with the right advice, a bag lady can become a supermodel. (It just takes a more expensive bag.) On some of the most popular reality programs, people are targeting friends and sweethearts for makeovers: "I love you, baby, but not your hair." "As your best friend, I have a duty to tell you what a mess you are." "Four guys are here to turn you into a human being." |

| At PNB, we're not advising anybody to get a makeover. Just the opposite. We're telling a certain teenage beauty not to get one. Her name is Jennifer Hughes. She's a high school senior, born in Southern California, now living in North Georgia. She has held two pageant titles and is hoping to become the next Miss Georgia Teen USA. |
| Ms. Hughes was introduced to a PNB reporter at a pageant reception and asked for some informal advice about winning the title. Our reply was simple: Don't change a thing. This bit of wisdom doesn't guarantee that Ms. Hughes will win. She has some stunning competition. But we like looking at her the way she is.
