Bolivia is a land of towering mountains and steamy lowlands, precious metals and priceless women. Oops! You caught us. We at PNB can't get through a single sentence without talking about beauty queens.

But maybe Bolivia itself is to blame. If it didn't have such spectacular queens, we might show an interest in something else.

Consider Helen Aponte, who's representing Bolivia at Miss World 2003 in China. She's tall, she's young, she's famous for her sweet disposition. She just seems to dominate any story she's in.

To change the subject, and to show that we are not addicted, we are going to tell you some things about Bolivia that have nothing to do with pageants: Bolivia is named for the great liberator Simon Bolivar. It produces tin and silver. Its territory stretches from the Andes to the Amazon Basin.

That hurt! Maybe we are addicted.
