| According to some prophets of doom, the year 2000 was supposed to be the time when the Earth's poles and tropics would shift violently, changing places in an instant. Well, the poles haven't moved, but the tropics have traveled quite a distance. In April 2000, they visited Las Vegas. We mean, of course, that wherever the beauties and staffers of Hawaiian Tropic go, they bring the warmth and cordiality of the tropics with them. Their openness and kindness to PNB make us feel the fragrant ocean breezes even in the driest desert. |

| On April 29, at the Tropicana Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Marie Eve Dufault of Saint Sauveur, Quebec, was crowned Miss Hawaiian Tropic International. Robin Cunningham, Spring Break Cancun, Mexico, was first runner-up, and Gina Costa, representing Cuba, was second runner-up. The third runner-up was Tatjana Tutan, representing Ljubljana, Slovenia, and the fourth runner-up was Kumiko Nagano of Japan. Miss Photogenic was Suzanne Stokes of Miami, and Miss Congeniality was Debbie Lee of Pusan, South Korea. They were such lovely young women, dressed in their tropic finest (which is none too concealing), that we couldn't resist snapping a few pictures. Someday, when the cold winds return to our corner of he globe, and the tropics seem like a distant fantasy, we'll look back on these pictures with enjoyment. To tell the truth, we're enjoying them already. |
