In November 1997, a small army of gorgeous women descended on the Turtle Bay Hilton in Hawaii. The occasion was the U.S. finals of the Miss Hawaiian Tropic International Pageant.
PNB was there, and we had planned to file a lengthy report about the tough competition and the spectacular views. But we decided that in this case, a few pictures would tell the story splendidly.
Four U.S. finalists for the Miss Hawaiian Tropic International Pageant were chosen. They will compete for the international title in April. The four are Jennifer Yon of Aspen, Colo., Shana Hiatt of St. Augustine, Fla., Jennifer Corliss of Buckhead (Atlanta), Ga. , and Jennifer England of Lansing, Mich. The congeniality award went to Heather East of Maui, Hawaii, and the photogenic award was won by Bonnie Jill Laughlin of El Paso, Texas. Other women among the 12 semifinalists were Michelle Dawn of Bloomington, Ind., Mary Riley of Del Ray Beach, Fla., Crystal Jones of Norfolk, Va., April Stewart of Savannah, Ga., Jennifer Rivero of Amelia Island, Fla., Lisa Casey of Columbia , S.C., Jimita Esasky of Atlanta, Ga., and Vanessa Gleason of Long Beach, Calif.
