Glorious Gloria

Just in case you're new to all this pageant stuff, Gloria Almonte was Miss New York Teen USA 2001. She was first runner-up to Miss Teen USA, back in August 2001.

That was a great summer to be alive in New York, before the awful autumn of terrorists and anthrax and war. Ms. Almonte was a big part of it. She used to crack us up when she joked about her "vampire teeth." They didn't look that sharp to us, and she certainly wasn't frightening.

She turned 20 in the summer of 2003. That was a pretty good summer, too, at least for her. She's a model now, and recently made her first independent film. When we have more details about it we will let you know.

Is it just us, or does Gloria Almonte seem to get more beautiful every time we see her? That is a little frightening, but in a very nice way.
