The bodies of GalaxyPhotos by Paul Fong / PNB | ![]()
|
| When the people at PNB headquarters heard about the Galaxy 2003 event on Nov. 23, 2003, in Orlando, they thought it was another event entirely. (Coronation Inc. has the Miss Galaxy Pageant, which we intend to cover at length in 2004.) But this was another Galaxy, founded by the legendary fitness guru George Snyder, and produced in cooperation with Swimsuit Illustrated Magazine. This was a galaxy far, far away. A galaxy with bikinis. |

| "No corny lines about heavenly bodies," a crusty old editor said, drawing groans from his colleagues. No PNB writer would ever consider writing such a line. We never reach for the cheap laugh or lurid titillation. Certainly not in this case. |
|
| Our approach, in keeping with the pageant's name, is focused on the vastness of space. Many scientists believe that in the countless galaxies that dot the universe, there are planets very much like our own, where life has developed along similar lines. That means there must be bikini contests on distant worlds. And the Pageant News Bureau must be there, too. |

| It all fits in with the laws of physics and astronomy. "P = nbČ" is how Einstein would put it. Or as one spaceman said to another, "Aren't those poses out of this world?" |
