What's a crown without a bracelet?

Bracelets
People still argue about who discovered America. They still debate about who really invented the automobile. They take different sides on who was the creator of rock 'n' roll.

Some moments in history are like that. A new trend comes out of nowhere and catches on immediately, as if everybody thought of it at the same time. It's as if the world had been waiting for this very thing to happen. That's what they call "an idea whose time has come."

The pageant bracelet is one such idea. For 100 years, beauty queens thought nothing of having bare wrists. But that changed dramatically in 2003. Now a naked arm is cause for alarm. A queen without a bracelet is a queen who's not getting her due.

But where did this craze come from? The debate is already under way.

One side says the trend began on Sept. 15, 2003, at the coronation of Queen Leslie as the first Miss Pageant.com. The young beauty modestly insisted that no crown be placed on her head until a bracelet had been placed on her right wrist. "A queen must put duty above glory," she said, "and the bracelet is the symbol of a queen's duty."

The other faction points to the rise of Deeva's Pageant Joyelry, the groundbreaking line of pageant bracelets available at www.trainingforthecrown.com/bracelets.htm.
BraceletsJust as trendsetters embrace a brand of jeans, a style of footwear or a particular label of cognac, in 2003 the pageant elite made Deeva's Pageant Joyelry their adornment of choice. Some hipsters even call it "Deepaj" for short.
Hoping to settle the debate before history could become entangled with myth, PNB asked Queen Leslie herself which side was right. "Was the bracelet idea yours, or was it Deeva's Pageant Joyelry?" we asked her.

She thought a moment, and then laughed. "It was my idea that a crown always be worn with a bracelet," she said. "But that really doesn't matter. As a pageant girl, I would trade a dozen good ideas for one Deeva's bracelet."
