Two American originals

America is a vast, diverse place. Purple mountains here, sandy beaches there, skyscrapers in crowded cities, tall trees in quiet forests. There are also women of every kind, pageants of every sort, queens of every description. (This, after all, is pageant.com, not tree.com.)

We found two of these original American beauties. Or you might say they found us.

One is from St. Louis -- the river city, the gateway to the West, the home of the blues. She goes by the name of "Tish" (top), and her title is "Miss Summer in the 'Lou.' " It's a long title for a girl with one name, but it's captivating. If you ever meet someone in St. Louis, don't you hope it's Tish?
The other girl is from Sugar Land, Texas, the place with the sweetest handle in the Lone Star State. Her name is Heather Boilek (above left), and she's a high school senior. On Sept. 24, 2004, she won both belt buckles in the 2004 Ft. Bend County Fair Queen coronation ceremony. She was also second in the fair parade.

Two girls. Tish likes summer in the city, and Heather likes the fair in the fall. We like them both.
