A news babe who has worn | ![]() |
| When you see a perky anchorwoman on a network entertainment program, what's the first thing you think? "I wonder if she's been in pageants." And the second thing? "I wonder if she was a cheerleader." We're not trying to be sexist or snobbish. Many women in TV news are excellent journalists. But the fact is that when you see a "news babe," you don't speculate about which journalism school she attended. You say to yourself: "Was she ever a pageant girl?" In most cases, the answer is yes. |

| That brings us to Brooke Anderson, an entertainment anchor and reporter on CNN Headline News and CNN's "Showbiz Tonight." This blond broadcaster has worn some crowns in her time. And though she has no cheerleading past that we know of, she was a collegiate football dancer. |
![]() | Ms. Anderson is based in Los Angeles, the nerve center of the entertainment industry. But like the CNN empire itself, she got her start in Georgia. Just a few years ago, she represented Atlanta at the Miss Georgia Pageant, and finished as first runner-up. She was also a member of the world-famous Georgettes, the football danceline of the University of Georgia. |
| By the way, Ms. Anderson has solid academic credentials, just in case you thought we were not going to mention it. But in the final analysis, beauty is what makes the news easy to take. Maybe that should be the motto of PNB. | ![]() |
