The magic of being Miss Teen All American

Jenna Edwards
Many little girls around Clinton, Mississippi, know Jenna Edwards from Princess Story Time. That's when she reads to them at the local library, whisking them off to faraway places through the magic of the printed word and youthful imagination.

Not many of her young listeners have heard Ms. Edwards' own story. But it, too, is the stuff of little girls' dreams. In August 1999, she was crowned Miss Teen All American.

Jenna EdwardsFor someone like Ms. Edwards, who is 18 and has been "on the pageant circuit" since age 11, Miss Teen All American is a title to dream about. Its winners have a history of going on to success in modeling, acting and other major pageants. She has won some impressive titles before, and come close to winning others. But now, as a young adult, she is stepping into the front ranks of pageantry.

If her story were a fairy tale, she would be the beautiful princess who has just used her magic key to enter the enchanted castle. There are so many rooms to explore.

In real life, she is in college, on scholarship, and looking toward a career in broadcast journalism, entertainment law or exercise physiology. She's also a down-to-earth Southerner and a devout Christian. She has no "royal" airs.

It's easy, isn't it?
